Abstract


Household waste is the remainder of daily activities in solid form and partly consists of organic materials, such as food scraps, vegetable scraps, fruit peels and leaves that decompose easily. In 2023, Bali Province will produce a volume of 1,027,433.75 tons of waste and 316,312.65 tons will be produced by Denpasar City. Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae belonging to the Diptera family and the Stratiomyidae family can survive and live in extreme environments, such as waste media that contain quite high levels of salt, alcohol, acid and ammonia. Processing organic waste using BSF larvae is a form of waste management using an innovative and sustainable method. This research aims to determine the most effective method for using BSF larvae within 14 days to reduce waste and produce compost products. The results of the research on 4 types of organic waste with a volume of 2,000 grams each and a volume of BSF larvae used of 100 grams, obtained the highest effectiveness value in reducing vegetable waste by 44.6%, reducing mixed fruit, vegetable and food waste by 44.6%. 44.2%, fruit waste reduction of 29.6% to the lowest effectiveness value of 20.15% for food waste reduction. Even though the reduction effectiveness is the lowest, cassava in this study was proven to have met all the parameters of the SNI 19-7030-2004 criteria such as water content, C-Organic, pH and N value so that it can be used as quality compost fertilizer
